So hungover. Our own fault, completely. There's nothing like a service station breakfast to get over such pain, though.
Over to Stroud, which was only about 20 miles down the road. The venue was amazing - the best we've ever played in. Beautiful building, a former convent, big, lovely room filled with stunning artwork. Soundman very particular about the tuning of my kit, and how badly it was tuned, so we spent hours getting it right. A long process, but they sound amazing now, and this little tour kit is just a cheap one for the road.
Got my own hotel room! That's a first for band touring, usually have to share with Al. Lovely room, too, huge. A seemingly endless tab at the bar for us, 3 lovely meals (including post-show pizza), and the most generous of staff. The whole set up in this place is just wonderful - passionate, understanding people running it, it's a hotel/venue/spa/restaurant...I got lost so many times in the building but for every wrong turn there was a new quirk to discover, a disused piano or a piece of art. Just amazing, everything about it. I see why people go here and use it as a retreat.
The gig was great - filmed for a live broadcast. So comfortable, big audience but because we had a 3 hour tech we went into it feeling so confident. Lovely show, best we've played in a long while, and the footage looks amazing.
Partied till 3am, taking full advantage of the free bar. A particular shot called 'Brain Hemorrhage' was a favourite.
The whole day, the whole set up, just incredible. And we get paid for this? Amazing times.
