Long 8-hour day working with Marcel and Claudia on the musical but it was a lovely day...we spent so long on it because we wanted to, because we're quite excited about this project.
The rest of the guys read through the script for the first time and loved it, which is a relief - I then made a point of cutting bits of the monologues which, when read outloud for the first time, dragged a bit. Jo came over to 'audition' for the role but she always going to get it; it was pretty much written for her.
Marcel's arrangements are jaw-dropping. Seriously, wow. Incredible. Huge. Would comfortably fit in any West End theatre - they're big, magical...just...stunning.
Having rehearsed, made notes, rearranged things to work around each other, Marcel, Claudia and I enjoyed a lovely curry and discussed how this project is already too strong to just waste on a 7 day fringe run and a couple nights in the West End. It could be epic, we need to tour it, take it as far as we can possibly go. This could be the start of something special.
