Friday 17th March 2017

Our mixed bill stand-up show tonight was cancelled at horrifically short notice due to lack of interest from the locals...I don't mind so much as it's St Paddy's night and that usually attracts the wrong audience. The thing I'm annoyed, okay, angry is about is one of the comedians I booked for the show, Andy, was coming down from London so booked a room at the venue (which is also a hotel) for the night but the venue then charged him for the room anyway even though they pulled the show. The Bell Hotel in Clare, you should be ashamed. That's just not how you treat people.

Casual anger aside I had quite a nice day, did a second day in the office BY CHOICE as a freelancer - I could have just worked from home but I do get distracted quite easily at the moment and also I'm just loving the Volvo so any excuse to drive it is welcome. It may be 19 years old and is a bit thirsty for fuel but I feel like a real man driving it.

Put in a few hours of freelancing then, and then a few hours working on the Team Building with Drums idea, and then confirmed 2 solo shows. Those shows took a bit longer to get over the finishing line but I like that sometimes - I like the fact the venue want to chat and know more before confirming, it just means they're probably going to make an effort in promoting it and they know what they've taken on.

With my sudden night off, I caught up with comedian chum Rob to chat business and then went and had dinner with good friends, Adam and Vanessa. Lovely evening.
