Productive day, that one. Found a bunch of festivals that somehow had passed me by before and applied for those, chased up invoices and actually got paid today for those shows, which is a massive relief. Had the BEST SITCOM IDEA EVER and will write it on Friday. All of it. Looked at my script for a little acting job I had for the afternoon.
Then it was the afternoon, and I was on my little acting job - being in the show-reel for (brilliant and very lovely, if with the ability to be very scary) actress Lydia Dawson-Wilde. I was cast by my old mate, Kate, who was directing the piece. I was cast as 'young man' but they quickly changed that to just 'man', oh how we chuckled! It was a role I could do well, all 8 lines of it, it involved me being flustered and awkward whilst wearing a suit...nailed it, oddly enough. I was only there for a couple of hours but I felt a really warm rapport with everyone around me, lots of fun and banter. If this is what 'proper' acting is about, then I could happily be a proper actor.
Then met up with my old pal, Al, at the Boathouse to discuss comedy. He has lots of useful career ideas for me and lots of encouragement, he's an old work colleague who generally talks more sense than most people I know, it was both a joy and very productive. Then played what I thought was a really poor gig with Steve - I get the charm and challenge of being under rehearsed, or sometimes you can get away with it by not rehearsing at all, but that was taking it too far tonight. My new drums sound lovely, at least.
