Sunday 1st December 2019

A really fun day, I've had a lovely time. Up early for a morning WAS band rehearsal, which was full of Christmas cheer and relief that our next gig isn't as tricky at the recent London show.

Then over to a rehearsal space in Cambridge that I used to go to regularly many, many years ago. It's just reponed with the same owner, who knows me, and in return for setting up the drum kit for him, he let me have the studio for free today - it was a very fair deal.

The lesson itself was a 2-hour session; somebody had 'bought' me as a gift, for their daughter's boyfriend, who has played a bit of drums was but was losing interest. We had an amazing time, such a polite lad who could play a bit but was open-minded to new styles, so we worked on Motown, Reggae, Jazz... he excelled in all of it and apparently spent the whole journey home telling his lift how much he learnt and how he wanted to do it all again. This is why I do this.

Evening lesson cancelled as student was ill, which meant I could have a long bath. I lay there, aware that my young lady was downstairs, thinking "it's all worked out rather well, really."

Spent the rest of the evening getting myself organised for a very busy 2020, and trying to fix my 5 double-bookings for next week.
