Up at 5.30am ('helped' by the cat jumping on my face) and on the road by 6.30am. In Swanage (which, it turns out, is MILES AWAY) to play a gig with Greg and the band. I long way to go for a relatively poorly paid gig, but I'm really enjoying being in a band with him, Gemma and Saul - such nice people, it's just a joy to hang out with them (and Greg's wife, Louise). And we're a good band, too, there's a lot of punch in the songs and you can just see them winning over people, even in the sleepiest of folk festivals on a Sunday at midday.
Four and a half hour drive back, which means I pretty much spent the whole day on the road but it's fine, alongside all of the 'sensible' things I do (teaching), it's nice to remind myself that this is what I really do. I'm a travelling musician.
Got a takeaway with A and then carried on writing till the early hours. I know the plan (according to Jonny the filmmaker) is that I need to just slow down and focus purely on Harvey, but there's no reason why I can't write for other people, is there?
