Friday 19th January 2019

Show day! Which basically meant not getting up till 11am, and then rehearsing the show, in it's entirety, three times in a row - with a little break for the odd trip to Tescos for snacks.

Scrubbed up, long shower, deep shave, put on my best shirt and ran for the train, just making it.

Amazing little theatre space, proper lights and everything. Small audience tonight but it's a work in progress show - infact, I knew everyone there: Matt, Sally, Rob, PBH, Mel, Dan and Alan.

It worked fine. Nowhere near as good as the rehearsals have been, but nowhere near as bad as the house shows. There's stuff that needs a bit of work in it - the punchline for the first play isn't clear enough (to the audience, to me I think it makes a very dark, and valid, point about stagnation), the second play has a false ending which I like but the audience thought that was the actual end so that needs work, the third play felt really messy - probably because it's the easiest third to perform, so I let my guard down a bit. The double ending - both tragic, and then the happy bit, works well. Having overrun so much in rehearsals, it clocked in at a healthy 53 minutes on Friday, finishing 7 minutes early. I'm happy with that.
