A full day of touristing...literally site after site, coupled with probably too much walking but - you know, we're in Paris, and only a short trip, so great to get in as much as possible.
Went to the Notre-Dame at about 1pm, it was very nice, posed for a photo etc, then went and got some lunch before heading back for a bit of a mid-afternoon snooze/other stuff (I'll spare you the details).
Text from A's mum saying that the Notre-Dame is on fire! We put on the TV and were fascinated by it all...we were staying literally 2 miles down the road. We sat, in our Paris apartment, watching history unfold, aware that we were there only a few hours earlier. All a bit eerie.
Eventually we went out for evening drinks around Moulin Rouge but everything felt so...quiet, and sad, like a nation in mourning.
