Tuesday 1st May 2018

Yeah, not sure if I'll last until July as a teaching assistant in that place - it's fucking intimidating. The kids I have to look after often have issues because socially they feel insecure going into the classrooms...I don't blame them, I'm nearly 37 and I feel uncomfortable there. I've not seen a teacher yet who has full control over his class, or anything like it. The lack of respect these teenagers have is frankly unbelievable. I'm writing it all up into a new book which I'll call 'This is Our Future' - the money is terrible for this role but I'll consider myself to be some sort of undercover researcher, or something.

Anyway, won an award from a recent fringe festival, which was lovely. Told you I had a good night there.

Also, some scarily big stuff is happening thanks to an email which got me all excited. Probably shouldn't say anymore, but a big producer (for radio comedy), who has my script, didn't like it but really, really liked '50 Ways...' instead when he checked out my website. We'll be meeting at the fringe as he wants to see more of my work. This could be huge.

After my teaching assistant stuff, I played in the school concert at my regular college where I teach. The class of people there is so different, so refreshing, so much more...respect. I love it there, I'm really keen to get some more hours there if possible, I'd even go as far to say I'd work there full-ish time. It's just a vibe that I get from the place, it's really nice. Anyway, the concert was great - I got to back the teachers with a hip-hop version of You Can't Hurry Love, and my private student there, Tony, played his first ever gig (to about a hundred people) and totally nailed it. I felt proud and almost emotional, he's only been playing since January but it feels like I've made him into a good little drummer.

After that dashed over to a private lesson, and then another one after that. Basically, teaching for 12 and a half hours today.

Over to A's place, she had (a very lovely) dinner on the table waiting for me, and we were both a little excited because that's the sort of thing that normal couples do.
