Up early, into the studio with the band. The plan was to just record the one song, which will take us up till 11 for the album. We did that in good time - it's a great studio with a brilliant producer we know well so it felt like a fairly easy session.
We then tried to record the song we learnt on Thursday (and gigged for the first time on Friday). It's a track we're all massively excited about, but recording it so soon probably wasn't the best idea. There's absolutely nothing wrong with our playing on it at all - it's in time, it's tight. There's just a sense that we need to gig it a few times more, find some special bits...it'll happen, then we'll re-record it. This album is taking a while, though.
Gig with Claudia and band afterwards was great, and nice to catch up with friends.
Feeling slightly annoyed about the whole freelance situation, but then I see on Facebook a post about an old friend who is now in a wheelchair and having a really tough time. Bit of perspective and all that, I'm a lucky boy, really.
