In the evening I went to watch my musical be rehearsed. They're all great and Claire is a magnificent director with a real 'roll your sleeves up and crack on with it' kind of attitude. It's really, really close to the performance of it, but if they can get this right then we can do a lot more with this next year.

Worked a few hours from home, and then spent a hefty amount of time putting together ideas for next year's fringe/tour show. At the moment the plan is to have it as a 90 minute show for the tour, a mix of new stuff and material which I know works. That'll get me through the February run, and by the time it tours again in May it will then be a 60 minute show, all of it new, and by the fringe in August that new stuff will feel comfortable. As a show it will be less narrative-based, less reliant on callbacks, and more...well, jokes I guess. This feels like a logical way to go - my first proper solo show was restricted to the story of me moving back to my home town and the 'walk', the second one was tied down to the plot of me not being man enough to ask for my deposit back from a former landlady and this year it was too restricted by the idea that I was obsessed with lists. For next year's show it can have similar content, but it doesn't need to be structured in such a way.
