Long, long day of moving. Really should have got some help, but that's not my style - I quite enjoy the struggle somehow. Also, I still don't really don't understand how much I can, or can't, fit in this car... one trip to the tip, to throw away 9 BAGS OF STUFF from my old tiny bedroom, and then 5 trips to the new house. Each trip involved about an hour of driving, plus all the unloading, and I'm moving into an attic. I certainly got a sweat on.
For the final trip - the biggie, Edd and Emily gave me a hand. It was a biggie because my bed is massive and wouldn't fit in my car, but Edd has an estate, and Emily could fit my Tama kit into her boot, allowing me to cram everything else into mine. They are such awesome people and really good friends; it was gone 11pm and Edd was still building my bed for me here.
See, 2 and a half years ago I was needing to move house (because I was living with a very mad lady in a very small cottage) and Edd, a bandmate who I barely knew, said he was looking for a lodger. 2 and a half years later I've finally moved out of his, but an amazing friendship has been built there, really amazing - we've both had some pretty low moments (mostly regarding family death) whilst being housemates, but never a single cross word, never a disagreement. So, 2 and a half years later, I'm moving on because he's engaged, and it feels like I'm slightly in the way of the family home they are building, but I'm his best man for that wedding (which is in December) and the whole thing is just rather wonderful.
Also, even if he hadn't had met his future wife, we both agreed that we could have still been housemates into our sixties, and it's actually really healthy that progress is being made in, you know, life.
I like where I've moved to, it's another shared house but it's a big house, I've got a big room, I really like my housemates, it all feels very private - everyone is just doing their own thing, and that's how I like it. Also, it's really central in Cambridge, which is ideal. Not quite making the same progress as Edd, but this move is good for me, I think. Although moving really knackers me out, not doing that again for a good while, at least a year.
